Bettendorf Falls in 1st Round of Iowa High School Football Playoffs

If you check-out The High School Football Huddle's other sites, you'd know that the second season is called that for a reason.
Slates are wiped clean, and once teams are "in the dance" for a shot at a state high school football, attitudes change.
Just ask Bettendorf fans how heartbreaking the second season can be.
Wednesday night Bulldogs fans sat back helplessly as their team was upset by Cedar Rapids Kennedy 17-14 in the substate round of the Iowa High School Football playoffs. Bettendorf came into the game 8-1, while Kennedy was a sub-.500 team at 4-5.
The Quad City Times reports that this one came down to the end with Kennedy's offense making the big plays.

Iowa High School Football Playoffs Begin Tonight

The High School Football Huddle
All six 2008 Iowa high school football champs are back to defend their titles, although some are more likely than others to capture 2009 hardware.
For example, defending Class-4A West Des Moines Valley is back, but after a 5-4 regular season, really isn't expected to challenge for a trip to the UNI-Dome. Valley opens on the road tonight at Fort Dodge.
On the other hand there's two-time Class 2-A champ Solon, which brings a 36-game win streak into its substate game. Solon's first round game is at home against Mediapolis.

The High School Football Huddle
All six 2008 Iowa high school football champs are back to defend their titles, although some are more likely than others to capture 2009 hardware.
For example, defending Class-4A West Des Moines Valley is back, but after a 5-4 regular season, really isn't expected to challenge for a trip to the UNI-Dome. Valley opens on the road tonight at Fort Dodge.
On the other hand there's two-time Class 2-A champ Solon, which brings a 36-game win streak into its substate game. Solon's first round game is at home against Mediapolis.
